Let me first say that your inner voice is a GOOD thing. It keeps you out of dangerous situations, it makes you ask yourself hard questions and can help you work through things. That said your inner voice is also what can hold you back and keep you stuck. I work with stunningly beautiful people who come to me for help to up their style profile and one of the first things we work on is quieting that self talk that has lead them astray.
One of the biggest things I hear from both men and women
of all ages and sizes is I hate my:
Knees
Arms
Elbows
Belly
and so on...
So what does that have to do with STYLE? It is simple all the things we don’t like about ourselves we go about hiding and we generally do it the wrong way. I have worked with lots of people over my caress who think if I just wear black and I get it one size larger I will look OK. I can tell you that you are WRONG. getting clothes that fit your body and that embrace your assets is the way to go. create an outfit that draws peoples eyes away from what you think of as a flaw.
I will use me as an example. I am not in love with my mid section so I always try to create an outfit that brings the focus up to my face or down to my legs that way no one is staring at me in the middle. I always wear clothes that fit my body and that speak to my personality. I also will jump outside of my box and try things just in case it is the perfect thing for my style.
When your inner voice is telling you can’t wear that I say if you like it give it a try. That doesn’t mean you need to invest a lot in something but maybe you buy a cheaper version and give it a shot. Fully try to embrace the look and ask yourself is this really me.
